UPDATE MAY 29 MAY 2016:  IT’S ALL OVER.  WE DID IT.  AND A BIG THANK YOU TO BA FOR UPGRADING US TO BUSINESS CLASS FOR OUR RETURN FROM RIO!  WE HAVE POSTED ONE MORE BLOG UNDER THE HEADING RETURN TO BLIGHTY (GO TO COUNTDOWN DROP DOWN), ABOUT WHAT WE LEARNT DURING NEARLY NINE MONTHS AWAY. THIS IS PACKED FULL OF TIPS AND MONEY SAVING IDEAS SO PLEASE CHECK IT OUT IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING TRAVELLING ABROAD, BE IT A TWO WEEK HOLIDAY OR FULL BLOWN RTW.  IN THE MEANTIME WE ARE NOW EMBARKING ON OUR NEXT STAGE OF OUR LIVES, WHICH INTERESTINGLY INVOLVES MORE TRAVELLING!

UPDATE DECEMBER 29 2015:  Please do read the full story below about how and why we decided to travel.  But as we come up to exactly half way in our 8 month journey, feel free to check out some highlights (thanks Russ B) from our time in 10 countries, by clicking on the video link below:

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines and sail away from the safe harbour…” Mark (Twain) Bailey

“I don’t want to be told I can’t do something.  I’ll just have a go at it and I may make a terrible mess of it, but I’d sooner make a mess than not have a go at all.  I don’t think age matters. What matters is your determination not to give up and not to stop learning new things….” Dame Judy Dench – York Lass

Well we’ve talked about it for long enough.  And now is the time to do it!

We’re two 50+ year olds, who love travelling…

IMG_4017

… and when we heard a radio interview describe life as seven days of the week, we knew we had to act.  If life really is three score years and ten, then we’re on Friday night with a weekend ahead and if we are lucky, a Bank Holiday!  Not much time left really.  So, do we build an extension, stick with a couple of all-inclusive weeks in the Med or buy a sports car?  Or is there more to life – should we just jump in at the deep end, give up our jobs and take off for nine months travelling the World?

AT THE CROSSROADS...

AT THE CROSSROADS…

For us it was a no brainer because if you don’t do it, you’ll never know what would have happened if you had done it!

And therefore after 18 months of planning, on 31 August 2015, we embark on a 52,000 mile trip to 19 countries, not quite knowing what will happen, who we will meet and whether or not divorce petitions will be served after spending 246 days together…

PLEASE CHECK OUT THE PANDAS  below who will explain all – THANKS GRACE for your great video!  And please fill in the box at the foot of this page to subscribe to our site enabling you to post comments as well as receive regular updates, photos and video blogs by CHECKING OUT the Blog Calendar.

All the best.
